Winter in July1st July 2000 Immediately after finishing my last piece Summer Solstice at Sunset, I started experimenting with a new progression in C minor. My techno friend thought it sounded like Tubular Bells. I worked on a few measures each day this week. Each day of cloudy weather - neither here nor there. After the summer solstice, it seems as if winter is already showing its face. As long as the sun is hiding, I shall also hide. I have a new theory. I am most productive in my compositions when the weather is bad and when I overwork myself to other people's agendas. Composing brings me back to myself. In the language of music I can articulate the murmurs of my soul. Today I discovered something else. I can open the adobe acrobat file in adobe photoshop 5.5. It rasterises it. In greyscale, I can crop and resize. Then I can save for web as GIF in 4 colours. This is much easier than saving as BMP and then crop/resize in greyscale and then back to index colour. Also, the reason why many people aren't able to print the pdf version is because my music notation software uses the OPUS font suite (opus text, opus special, opus chord) for the music notes. Thanks to a visitor who educated me on the location of the TTF (font files) in c:\windows\fonts I can now experiment further to get to the visible PDF stage. GIF files are still blurred. |
